Frequently Asked Questions
Our professional Miami floor installers are always happy to answer your flooring questions in person or by phone. The following are some of the most common questions we get from our customers:
What is the difference between porcelain and ceramic floor tile?
Porcelain tile is made from porcelain clay using the dust pressed method. This results in a tile that is very dense and hard. Porcelain tiles are frost-resistant or frost-proof since they absorb very little water. Because of their durability, porcelain tiles are suitable for almost all applications including residential, heavy traffic, and commercial areas.
Ceramic tiles are kiln-fired and made from red or white clay. The tiles are typically finished with a glaze to improve durability. Ceramic tiles aren?t frost-resistant and are most appropriate for light to moderate traffic areas.
Can I use ceramic tile outside?
Porcelain tiles are a better choice for outdoors. The tiles should be frost-proof and unglazed.
What is the difference between engineered and solid hardwood flooring?
Engineered flooring is comprised of three to five layers of wood. The layers are stacked with the grains running in opposite directions and fused together using pressure and heat. Engineered hardwood is more resistant to the expansion and contraction caused by fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
Solid wood flooring is made from one single piece of hardwood that is ?? thick. The thickness allows the wood to be refinished and sanded numerous times over many generations. Our installers will leave a small gap between the flooring and the wall to compensate for the natural expansion and contraction of the wood. The gap is typically covered by molding or quarter round.
How do I repair minor scratches or nicks in my laminate flooring?
A: You should purchase a laminate floor repair paste. This is available at most home improvement stores and flooring retailers.
How do I estimate the amount of carpet or flooring I will need?
